The Self -

Exploring art, expressing yourself and having fun. The young adult artist will start by creating a collage self portrait and then draw, write and collect photos that have to do with their own lives. All of these will be brought together to create the artist’s self portrait. The student will be shown many ways to create personalized drawings. We will discuss the work of self portrait artists; Close, Van Gogh, Kahlo and more.

Ages - 12-16 (limited to 8 students)

Mixed Media -

Exploring the mediums of drawing, printmaking and collage. The young artist will use one or all 3 mediums to create their own masterpiece. We will discuss the work of artists; Bearden, Picasso, Motherwell, Basquiat, Ringgold and more.

We wanted to show your art!

Denis Fitzpatrick came up with a great idea, make our Pike street  facing window a place to show art.

So come in and drop off a bio, images and a show resume, or you can leave a comment on the blog with your website link. The images must be indicative of what you want to show, please, do not bring in the actual works. Due to the nature of the space we are looking for 4 to 7, works  24″x24″ or larger, ready to hang.  Shows are bi-monthly.

Shawn Beesley
Shawn’s art is currently hanging in the Utrecht window. His paintings depict everyday life from a minds eye. Each work is another potentially epic day of life. Shawn makes paper cut outs, glues them to canvas and then paints with acylics. This method gives a low relief 3d realism to the work.

All you have to to is walk by to see the work! YEAH STREET ART! 

Silk Screen Demo

Come learn the basics and fine art end of Silk Screen printing.
Don De Leva will be demonstrating several different silk
screening techniques, photo emulsion, paper stencil, block out
and wax stencil. This demonstration is meant to give an over
view of what silk screening is about and how to keep your
creative ideas flowing. It is best to get here at 1:00 so as not to miss any of the time
ordered steps presented in the processes.

Paper Sculpture demonstration on Thursday January 29th starting at 2pm.

This is a must see for any paper enthusiast and Pop Folk fans. Sean Beesley, a Seattle artist, has been a painting for over 20 years. He combines paper and acrylic to create extravagant Pop Folk sculptures of football players, monsters, robots, custom boxes, and low relief paintings on canvas.

Here is what he had to say about his latest commissioned work, a giant Man o’ Warship mobile.

“I was Commissioned to do a mobile made from paper of an 18th Century Man o’ Warship.
I finished the piece but had no where to store it until delivery. Denis Fitzpatrick (my boss a Utrecht) was kind enough to let me hang it from the ceiling at work. During the transport to the store a gust of wind sprang the butts of the masts. So during my days off I came into work to fix the ship.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays, I will be at the demo desk working on the ship. It is made from 3ply Bristol board and acrylic gel as the glue, and chopsticks for the spars. It has 20 guns, 4 cannonades and 2 Stern chasers.”
